Inside ResultMaps: February 2021

2020 has every CEO rethinking execution and how they handle the strategy-execution gap. We see more CEOs move away from old forms of command-and-control (and the silos it creates) so that they can thrive into 2021 and beyond.

One of the most frequently asked questions we get is how exactly can you do that? How do teams thrive without walls and silos? This month’s roundup brings you a few glimpses.

ResultRealized

From the Product Team:

Found: The missing column on process + project boards

Stay focused on results by taking a page from Spotify’s playbook. Add a “result realized” column to any process or board.

It’s part of our standard templates now, and it takes your teams out of busywork traps and pushes them to come up with and take calculated risks. And that really means they add value that counts, and you grow faster.

From the Product Team:

Better decisions + confident flow

Every Saturday and Sunday, we see spikes in use of the Day Plan and the Week Plan. It’s a reminder that accountability and execution are products of decision making and clarity. And this clarity is critical to CEOS, managers, and the digital frontline.

We’re excited to announce even more help so you can create and protect that clarity. Because that means you can make better decisions faster and with confidence. And that really means aligned execution, faster.

What we’re reading and learning

While reading Stephen Bungay’s The Art of Action: How Leaders Close the Gaps between Plans, Actions and Results (highly recommend), we came across these amazing accounts of how Spotify puts the principles of the book into practice. And we were reminded of another great article from that team that fits with this series. It’s a post on why Spotify limits OKRs (objectives and key results) to the team level and avoids them at individual levels.

Look for more on this in upcoming episodes of Rethinking Execution.
