Taking a step back to zoom out

So go back and look at the press release. Go back and look at the vision. Then and let's play the game the five why's. So if you haven't played this game before, I'm forgetting the name of the person that invented it, but it's very simple. You're going to ask, why is that important? You'll repeat that five times.

Example - the press release So when I look at the press release, maybe I decided it's important because it represents success for my business, for example. Maybe I put that in there, and the answer to why it's important to me is: because I'm really passionate about helping people be their best.I'm just going through this list I've created, and answer this "why" question:

Then, why that matters? It's because, I believe that one of the most impactful ways to help as many people as possible is to help CEOs and leaders realize their best by executing their strategy, by getting clarity on their vision, making sure it's simple enough, everybody can understand it, making sure they have visibility into how it's being executed so they can serve their clients and customers better.

That's how I get to my why. You can go through the same exercise.

Your why "draft"

I'll let you guys take 15, 20 minutes at most and just see how far you can get on this and when you get to the end of that time, you're going to have a solid draft statement of your "why." All I mean by draft statement is you're going to take these things, and put them together and there's your statement of why your organization is important. Now we'll wordsmith it later, but this is all it has to take for you to get a clear sense of why.
